AMD Telemedicine, the world’s leading provider of medical devices for telemedicine announces the opening an office in Sydney, Australia. The new AMD office will provide technical and practical support to AMD customers in Australia and New Zealand. Former AMD account manager Fernando Camacho has relocated to Sydney and will manage the AMD office.
“We are anticipating great growth for telemedicine in Australia. Fernando did a terrific job in our home office and now brings his extensive telemedicine experience and technical expertise of AMD products to current and future customers in Australia and New Zealand,” said AMD President Mark VanderWerf. Prior to joining AMD in September 2000, Fernando Camacho did research in the field of Economic Justification of the Implementation of Telemedicine for Remote Communities in his native Colombia. Fernando moved to Sydney to continue his work in telemedicine before joining AMD and moving to the US. Fernando is now returning to his second home.
“We feel the addition of our Sydney office to the office in Dalian, China that AMD opened almost two years ago gives AMD very strong customer support in the Asia Pacific region”, according to AMD Vice President Steve Normandin. “The advances in medical and communication technologies, the experience working with telemedicine projects around the world, and the opportunity in Australia, makes me feel very confident to accept this new challenge”, said Fernando Camacho.
Fernando Camacho received his Electrical Engineering degree in 1991 in Colombia. In 1998 he received his Masters of Biomedical Engineering degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia. He is now actively involved in the research of medical data representation for distributed applications.
