AMD Global Telemedicine Demonstrates Technology for Clinical Healthcare in Rural Communities

The Center for Rural Health Innovation and Country Cablevision Organized a Live Technology Demonstration for Mitchell and Yancey County Citizens to See How Telemedicine Can Benefit Their Communities

Chelmsford, MA, April 15, 2014 – AMD Global Telemedicine Inc. (AMD), the world’s leading supplier of clinical Telemedicine Encounter Management Solutions (TEMS) TM, demonstrates how telemedicine technology can be used to help deliver clinical healthcare in rural communities. The Center for Rural Health Innovation and Country Cablevision invited AMD Global Telemedicine to participate in order to educate public officials, healthcare practitioners and local citizens on the benefits of telemedicine for Mitchell and Yancey Counties.

AMD Global Telemedicine demonstrated the use of their software technology and specialized medical devices to deliver clinical examinations on patients in rural homes while receiving a live consult from a remote medical specialist. The remote physician is able to review vital signs, see real-time medical video, take medical images, listen to heart and lung sounds, and examine the patient in order to help determine the appropriate level of care for the medical issue at hand.

“This demonstration is a way for us to see how the combination of cutting edge technology and our community’s new broadband service can make a profound impact on the health of our community members”, commented Dr. Steve North, Medical Director and Founder for The Center from Rural Health Innovation. “The Center for Rural Health Innovation, which runs the MY Health-e-Schools Telemedicine Program in Mitchell and Yancey County Schools, is pleased to co-host this demonstration of new possibilities for our community”, added Dr. North.
